Blue Earth Olive Oil

Blue Earth Extra Virgin Olive Oil
Award Winning

from $26.00 - $52.00

Proudly made in Martinborough, Award Winning Blue Earth Extra Virgin Olive Oil, is great for bringing out the flavour, aroma and colour of your food.

In summer some of our favourite ways of using it are:

  • Drizzled over vine ripened tomatoes
  • Tossed through lightly cooked green beans
  • Dressing crisp salad greens, sometimes with a squeeze of lemon or lime, sometimes just on its own
  • The final touch for barbequed meat and vegetables

In winter we like to:

  • Swirl it on hearty soups (pumpkin in particular)
  • Splash it on casseroles just as we serve them to bring out the flavour
  • Dip bread that is warm from the oven
  • Drizzle over mashed or riced potatoes.

Three delicious varieties of oil to choose from:

Classic

A fruity oil, with notes of green almond, grass and green apple. Great with poultry, salmon, steamed vegetables and egg dishes. Made from barnea olives with some frantoio added.

Won best in class in the 2018 New Zealand Olives Awards.

Intense

A slightly more bitter oil, as a good intense oil should be. Match it with gazpacho, peppery salads, tomato sauce pasta, cooked greens and red meat. Made principally from manzanillo and koroneiki olives.

Tuscan

A medium oil with a peppery kick. It has notes of green almond, grass, artichoke and rocket. Great with white beans, lamb, winter soups and wine dishes. Made from frantoio olives with some barnea added.

Won Reserve Best in Show in the 2017 New Zealand Olives Awards and a gold medal at the New York International Olive Oil Awards.

Brand Information

What makes Blue Earth Olive Oil special?

The land – elevated, free draining, stony soils with low cropping and little chance of frost deliver full and rewarding flavours.

The climate – our warm summers, cool nights and long autumns result in a slow ripening of the fruit enhances the complexity and intensity of the oil.

The varieties – we have deliberately planted a mix of barnea (Israeli), manzanillo (Spanish), frantoio (Italian) and Koroneki (Greek) trees to ensure that Blue Earth Olive oil is rich, textured and vibrant.

The care – we tend our grove using sustainability principles and close attention to the health of our trees and our soils – fruit is pressed within 30 hours and stored in our wine cellar guaranteeing freshness.

The result is extra virgin olive oil that far exceeds the taste, chemical analysis and storage standards set by International Olive Oil Council and Olives New Zealand. It is no wonder that Blue Earth Olive Oil has developed a strong and loyal following.

The grove is on an old river terrace on the Ruakokapatuna River at the bottom of Te Muna Valley. We started planning the grove in 1998 and now have over 1100 trees. The property is shared with a vineyard which produces sought after, premium pinot noir and pinot gris
