Bordallo Pinheiro Cloudy Butterflies Cakestand

Bordallo Pinheiro was founded in Portugal in 1884, by artist and creator Raphael Bordallo Pinheiro and today continues to use centuries old techniques to reproduce Raphael’s models. All pieces are hand painted. 

The Cloudy Butterflies range is a flawless marriage between designers Claudia Schiffer’s and Bordallo’s styles. A world reference in fashion, Claudia Schiffer has allied her appreciation of the English countryside with butterflies in the style of Bordallo Pinheiro, creating pieces of great sensibility and elegance. Combining a personal vision with decorative naturalism, while pursuing the functional purpose, Claudia Schiffer has created a series of pieces that stand out for their artistic hand-painting, whose character tends more toward the abstract.

Established in the middle of the 19th century by the wonderfully playful Portuguese designer Rafael Bordallo Pinheiro, the brand that bears his name has become something of an institution in his native country thanks to his iconic cabbage leaf pottery. Bordallo Pinheiro uses traditional techniques to make its inimitable ceramics, drawing inspiration from organic forms to create all manner of incredible tableware.
